WANGI SUMMER TIME REGATTA

1. RULES

1.1 All races shall be governed by the following:

· The current rules as defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS).

· The Prescriptions and Special Regulations of the Australian Yachting Federation Inc.

· The Boating (Safety Equipment) Regulations of NSW

· This Notice of Race & Sailing Instruction

· The Class Rules of the respective classes competing in the regatta.

In the event of conflict between any of these documents the Sailing Instructions shall have precedence.

2 ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY

2.1 The Regatta will be contested in off the beach catamarans.

2.2 Divisions will depend on the number and types of boats entered and will be notified at the briefing and listed on the notice board. A minimum of 6 boats are required to make a Division.

3 FEES

Entry Fee will be $40.00 for the series.

$30.00 for Students

$20.00 for Juniors. Entry fee will be set as per oldest crew member or upon presentation of student card by both crew.

4 RESPONSIBILITIES

4.1 The Organising Authority – Wangi RSL Amateur Sailing Club (WASC) is not responsible for any damage or injury to a person or boat either afloat or ashore.

All those taking part in the regatta, do so at their own risk and responsibility. The WASC is not responsible for the seaworthiness of a boat whose entry is accepted or the sufficiency or adequacy of its equipment. Attention is drawn to the RRS Fundamental Rules, particularly Fundamental Rules 1.2, 3 and 4. Each Skipper is solely responsible for deciding whether or not to start or to continue racing.

The WASC reserve the right to refuse any entry.

4.2 It is the responsibility of each competitor to ensure that their yacht has a minimum of $5,000,000 Public Liability and Third Party Property Insurance.

4.3 Insurance details shall be stated on the entry form.

5 PROPOSED SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

The race committee reserves the right to postpone/abandon races if weather does not permit a reasonable finish time or to schedule extra races if weather permits.

6 BRIEFING

6.1 All competitors are to meet at WASC at 11:00 hours 3rd December 2005

6.2 The Regatta Office shall be the Wangi Sailing Office situated on the upper level of the WASC. Notices to competitors will be posted on the Official Notice Board located on the glass panel - lower level of WASC.

7 RACING AREA and COURSES

7.1 Races shall be conducted on Lake Macquarie in the general area between Wangi and Belmont.

7.2 The Courses will be notified at briefing. A list of classes (Minimum of 6 boats) & divisions will be displayed on Notice Board.

8 SCORING

8.1 The Low-Points Scoring System as set out in Appendix A of the RRS shall apply.

The Series may have 6 races, when five or more races are completed, a competitor’s worst score will be discarded. A minimum of 4 races shall constitute a Series all of which shall count.

8.2 Weather and time permitting, the race committee may decide to run extra races not able to be run on previous days. This will be signalled by flying an orange flag from the committee vessel after the last scheduled race of that day.

10 PRIZES

Prizes will be awarded for : 1st, 2nd & 3rd in classes. There will also be other novelty prizes.

16 SAFETY EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS

Where there is a conflict between the Class Rules, The Boating (Safety Equipment) Regulations of NSW and the AYF Special Regulations, whichever is the more stringent shall apply.

· Limited camping is available on private land adjacent to the Sailing club and RSLfor a nominal fee. Enquiries to Shane Russell on 02 49754478.

· The Wangi RSL Club is adjacent to the sailing club, and serves snack food and restaurant meals.

· Shops are situated 100 metres from the Wangi Sailing Club. Takeaway food and breakfast are available Bendy’s Burgers opposite the hotel.

· Sailmaker and chandlery – JM Marine is located opposite the Wangi Hotel.

· Accommodation options include onsite vans/camping (10 minutes away), holiday houses, B&B
