dood
Hello, Just like to know it you can use any sail maker to make your sails on a Maricat. And what materials are the boats alowed to use.(Decron only). Has the shape of the sail changed like the F18 sail. Thank Dood
ZAX
The Maricat Sails can be made by any sail maker. The sail maker should contact the Association for the sail measurements and the sail number if they are not already listed as a recommended sail maker on the maricat website www.maricat.net The shape has not changed although the sails are cut now for increased mast rake. dood
Thanks Zax, Now my next question to you all is. The rudder hold down system seems to be able to pop up quite easy. The leaver at the top of the rudder arm locks into the clip and the rudder is furmly down but if you hit just a small object in the water they can pop up. How do you all fix this problem. I have tryed to use a bit of rubber and rope around the arm but with no great sucess. Is there another method of holding the Maricat rudder down. Say like the NACRA uses. xmatelot
hi,DOOD, the Brisbane Catamaran Centre has the same system as the Nacra, available for the Maricat, in my opinion a much better system than the Hifield Lever, [This message has been edited by xmatelot (edited 24 April 2006).]
humungus2
I got rid of the clips years ago. After you pull the rudder down you simply put the pull down rope under the dolt that the leaver hinges on. It is imposible for it to come up then unless you put the rope back on top. REV YUKKA II
changed mine to a rope system as well same as the nacra, except i ran the rope under the tramp and have the cleat on the front beam. we have a bit of weed at wang so you have to clear the rudders and it slows the boat down too much to have to move back to do it. REV YUKKA II
that's great! would have been good to see it in more than 2 knots.
berny
Gotta be Lake Macquarie yes? I thought you blokes from M/Park might recognise the spot and may have known who's boat it is/was. Rathmines SC (exSC) could be just to the right if my memory is any good. [This message has been edited by berny (edited 02 May 2006).]
