QB2
Are there any major differences in sailing the new versus older generations? do the foamies feel much livelier or what?
humungus2
The new boats are much more boyant and do seem to be going well in all breezes. The big difference is on the reaches. They can be pushed a lot harder without nose diving and if they do happen to dig in then they usually pop up instead of cart wheeling. There are plenty on the water to have a go on. Come to Port Stephens and take mine for a sail or let me know where you are and I will find one close to you.
darcy1945
Yes, they feel a lot livelier, the are lighter, stiffer, more bouyant, the old internal hanging storage compartments have become a horizontal bulkhead and this seems to have improved the bouyancy by stopping hull side compression. I think they will now carry heavyweights (like my 97kg) with little noticeable loss of performance.
QB2
I am in Brisvegas. I keep trying to get to Humpybong but have only managed a couple of quick sails there so far.
richo
QB2, there are two to three maris that now regularly sail/race at Humpybong YC on a Sunday. Come down one day and have a sail! The more the merrier !
