sam257 Posted January 15, 2008 Report Share Posted January 15, 2008 Notice of Race Tanilba Bay Marathon Regatta 16th and 17th of February 2008 At the Tanilba Bay Sailing Club, Lloyd George Grove Tanilba Bay NSW 2319 To be sailed on the Beautiful waters of Port Stephens There will be an 11.30 am Briefing on Saturday with 3 Back to back Sprint Races starting not before 12.00 pm Sunday there will be a 10.00 am Sprint Race followed by the Port Stephen Marathon starting at 1.30pm. (with briefing before hand.) This event is open to all classes of Catamaran as well as being the final leg for the NSW Taipan & Capricorn Travellers Series. Race Fees- 2 man Boat $40 or $20 for one day 1 Man Boat $35 or $20 for one day There is Free camping available at the club on Friday and Saturday night as well as the Club will be hosting a BBQ on the Saturday night. sam257 Posted January 18, 2008 Author Report Share Posted January 18, 2008 Hi Phil, The Marathon will start in front of the club,(assuming the predominate 15 knot NE comes in)we will then work past Middle Island about 1.5k to the northern side of the bay from there we will reach in to corlett (nice kite run) from the mark in corlett well then run/reach down the bay and around the back of Snapper Island to a mark of Tanilba Point, (This is where the race will be split in to a small fleet and a large fleet)the small fleet will then round the fist fishies mark of Mallabula point, the large fleet will then round the second Fishies Mark of LTP then run back down to the Finish. The course should take 2.5 to 3 hours and is a lot of fun with some great reaches long works and nice runs. Harken and Schionning marine have also now sponsored this event.
