Continuous Rope System

Not rocket science. Gee. We did this 25 years ago. Same diameter rope as main sheet. No different to fit than two ropes tied together. Measure traveller rope and main sheet and that is the length

I have a question though. Back in the old day when tramps were two piece and were laced in the centre I used to run a shock cord from the rear of the tramp to the front of the tramp between the lacing and then looped back via a plastic ring and tied to a plastic ring which the main sheet/ traveller sheet ran the though. It prevented all of the rope being washed off the tramp because it would drag the mainsheet to the front when closed hauled and sretch out when on reach or off the wind. Some rope would disappear over the stern but to all of it making it simpler to recover the sheet. It had to be thin shock cord, say, 3mm diam to get the right amount of stretch.

Last week in 20knts and 1m swell with about 1m chop I was constantly retrieving the several metres of mainshhet which, when sailing in survival mode, was not too flash.

Does anyone have a system for stopping the ropes being washed off from one piece tramps that works without having more clutter on the "deck"?

On Zax I have an eyelet about a meter from the front of he tramp and thread the end of the mainsheet through that. There is a second eyelet about a meter from the back of the tramp for the traveller rope. I don't use a continuous system now but also never loose a rope over the back. Could use a continuous system with some elastic and pully from the front eyelet. Just prefer to use smaller diameter rope for the traveller (6mm) and the 9mm for the main.
