skypa
I have a Mk 1 with what I assume is the original rudder system which has a a clip (similar to a dog leash clip) on each side to stop the rudders from Kicking Up. This is fine whilst in deep water but when coming into shore I find it cumbersome to release quickly. As I mostly do sailing on dams, with levels dropping more than rising, it will only be a matter of time before I snap a rudder. Question: Is there a better system (e.g. Kick-up) that is realitively cheap to convert?
knobblyoldjimbo
On mine (and I think most others) I have a 2:1 downhaul onto a metal clam cleat. Uphaul is achieved by letting off the downhaul and a thick bit of bungy pulls the blades up. Cam cleats do a model that auto-releases under a certain amount of pressure, maybe this would provide what you require for your circumstances. Leon
If you are in Brisbane. Have a look at the 1 Humpybong Yacht club has. In good condition and the rudder system works well.
