still here - looking forward to doing some more successful tacks this weekend (last weekend was Careel 18 racing - Pittwater, beeeutifull). You guys coming, it's the club champs series thingy, then it appears only one more Saturday of racing.

I dunno, back in old Blighty we'd sail every weekend through the winter - I even did a couple of series without a wetsuit - scrape the ice off the boat we did too. I'm not calling catsailers pansies but a bit more rigour and stiff upper lip would certainly help.

How can the youngsters get enough practice in if they're not sailing!

Anyone know anywhere that runs winter sailing on the lake?

We were talking of going to Keepit again, if not then Toukley over winter. Need to keep getting the boat wet over winter. Pity that winter in paradise won't be running this year and I met a bloke from Port Hunter Sailing club who sails a Hobie and he is keen for a few sails over winter. Been a while since I sailed on Newcastle Harbour. Yes Jimbo sometimes I reckon all the Aussie sailors would be better sitting in front of the 2 bar heater with a cup of cocoa wearing their biege cardigan. Have seen Humungus at winter in Paradise sailing the saturday in only shorts and a life jacket though. Mind you he rugged up the second day.

How about Toukley every month on Sundays or Sats, MP every month on Sats or Suns with a two week gap in between. Nice shallow waters won't get too chilly.

I'd think that one or two weekends wouldn't be sailable (freezing rain, hail, typhoons that sort of thing) but charge the usual $10 per day, two races would keep the rescue boats outboards from seizing up and pay for the beer fridges to be cold.

Maybe we should import some nice English real beer, a pint or two of Winter Warmer would go down a real treat!

You can keep your warm English beer...

This winters plans are CYCA Winter Series on a Magic 25 & coaching my crew from the RS Nationals on her new NS14.

O and i forgot, maintenance on the Windrush before the trip to Albany for Nationals...

But it is a shame that Winter in Paradise isn't running this year. I didn't hang around to beat mick in the last race, so i was looking forward to a 1,1,1,1 score card this year.

by the way Phil, Speers last year was REAL autumnal weather dark forboding clouds, rain, wind (big southerly with big north end waves).

For the majority who wouldn't come out last year (it was raining and a little bit on the cold side - time to turn over and pull the doona up a little further!) - the water was filthy due to the previous week of storms and big rain.

And the sailing club doesn't serve beer!!

Hey Phil, you there?

Can you give me a call: 0403 079 718 (or sms) I lost your card and want to see if you have or know who has some marine alum sheet. I want to make a new rudder stock for my Careel 18. Sheet needs to be 6mm at least, rudder is quite large.

Did you go to Wangi last Sat, I stayed inside my nice warm grey cardigan! Did drive up past Wangi though (had to take the dogs for a drive to let someone look around our house (for sale)) - bullets looked big, Newc said 8 gusting 16.

Hey James

yes went to wangi, had a beautiful day, good wind, not too cold, shane went for a swim, we had 3 cats sailing all up. Missed all the others, I figured that it must have been too cold for them. Really I think they need a couple of spoonfulls of cement in their cocoa while in front of the 2 bar heater then they might harden up a bit. Darcy called in without a boat!!! thats like turning up at bondi icebergs and saying "I would come for a swim only I forgot my togs".

No I don't have any Al at work, the last place I purchased some was from Alspec near Coates Hire at Lambton on Griffiths Rd phone No.1300 257 732. The next Wangi race is the last one for the season too. They have August off. I won't be there though, have to do the couple thing and take the dragon to Bowral for the weekend, which has turned out to be real bad timing if you ask me, I'm missing sailing to go and look at flowers.
