CamDay
Hi there, I am a newbie landluber owner of a derelict Maricat 4.3. Should I give up now?? I have noticed the trampoline has stitching that is decayed/worn/frayed/missing is several spots, although the tramp seems to be holding my weight. (We haven't sailed the beast yet). Should I ignore the stiching? Is it possible to have it re-stiched? Or is it better to buy a new Tramp, in which case how much are new trampolines? Thanks for your help. One day I might even get it into the water! I am in Brisbane Queensland. Cheers and thanks.
QB2
Take it safe and get a sailmaker or your local upholsterer to have a look. They can readily restitch the edges if that is all it needs. However if you have tears, frayed areas or the mesh is so deteriorated you can poke a hole in it spend the 300 to 400 bucks to buy a new one, you won't regret it. There is nothing worse than having the tramp dump you in the drink when you least expect it. Brisbane catamara centre sells new mari tramps but you can also get them interstate. How is the mainsail/Jib? get both checked out as well as the tramp if they are in poor condition.
