ashm86
Hi all, My total square footage of sail area is 163ft. IS this going to be way too much for the paper tiger? The main alone is 109sq ft. I am assuming that with this amount of sail area my thrust to weight ration is going to be pretty good. I have no way of weighing my boat, but I can pick it up off the ground fully on my own so I figure around about 120 odd pounds. THis does not include the rig, just hulls and cross beams. The standard tiger has 100 square feet of sail area, so I am just over 1.5 times the total area of a standard tiger. I hope that the boat will handle the sail area well and not be a dog Andrew

ashm86
I calculated with just the jib(I got a smaller one to help with tacking). The Hooter will add another 75 feet or so I think(not sure of the actual size). I figure I should be able to keep up with the 16 footers around here. Hopefully I can get her going well enough to play with the 18's as well. Andrew
xmatelot
Hi Andrew, What mast are you using? pete
ashm86
It is a Hobie 14, 22 feet long I believe. IT came off a turbo rig. I know it is heavy, but I am hoping by powering up the rig, I can still get decent performance out of it. Andrew
