pt3058
Matt, You said that Mk4's were being made around the year 2000. When did the Mk5's start getting produced by Boyer? You have probably seen me sailing my Paper Tiger at Cootharaba. Early next year i will be looking for a Mk 5 to sail at the Worlds in 2009. Any help is greatly appreciated, Warrick, pt3058
sam257
The Mark 5 A is Boyers Copy of the first flyer , which was at the 1999 worlds in Melborne so I would think it started to be built around mid 2000 early 2001. (p.s Dad had a brand new mark 4 for the 1999 worlds.AUS 750)
John Dowling
The first Mk V's were built in Feb/March 2001. Look for sail numbers AUS 823 and upwards. As mentioned the under water shape is identical to the Flyer Mk 1 with the decks being different and the bow less raked. The transom is also a little deeper meaning less wave slapping for the rear beam. Still a very competitive boat. Around 15k for one in good condition. Bit of nostalgia here - I had Aus 749 new for the same event - it's now happily sailing in Darwin - a fine boat!
Darryl J Barrett
The Mk5 moulds are sitting here in our factory and the bow isn't raked like the Flyer at all
John Dowling
Correct about the bows - as I said in my post "with the decks being different and the bow less raked"
