Dr Peter
Not being overly modest I am an educated man. Today - was my 51th birthday. Pulled out a turntable - thank you, wife. How come I can remember riffs and lyrics from 30+ years ago but not what happened a month ago? Peter

QB2
Because the mind remembers highlights and not every day existence ..If you think back to a particular date or piece of music or have a dairy to provide the clues for what happened you can remember a lot of standout things, but it takes a major effort to remember a whole day. There are some who can remember every single detail of their lives. Not sure I'd want to remember the boring repetitive work I've done or the tedium of the daily commute etc. Listening to music seems to hit the spot,.. the first few bars and most of us have instant and total recall.but try to remember exactly when, where and who you were with when you first heard that track and it gets harder. what was the music that brought it all back? Beatles, Pink Floyd? Led Zep?
