childs play
hi im am new to sailing windrush's and want to set my boat up for racing. the previous owner only used it for social sailing could some one please tell me the answer to the following questions. 1. What is the standard side stay length and how much rig tension should there be? 2. On my mast i have 2 connection pionts for the sidestays which one do the sidestays and forestay go into? 3. Is there any clubs in south australia with a windrush fleet? any help would be appreciated i race last sunday against a fireball and tasars at our local club had heaps more pace then them but couldnt point as high as them by about 10 - 15 degrees. darcy1945
Forestay and sidestays attach to the tang on the front of the mast fitting, this allows mast rotation, attachment points on the side of the mast are for trap wires. Do not attempt to point with any dinghy or yacht you will only go sideways. Keep working on finding a local club with Windies before you start spending money to make it go faster. The Y/stick for Windies is 94 cat rig, and 88 s/sloop, only attainable on race rigged foam or light bulkhead boats, early mk1/mk2 boats will sail well above this (5 min or more)
