Lilliput
Hi, My son and I attended the regatta at Mannering Park over the Aus Day Weekend (Mari 4.3 sloop) and guess what he wants after seeing all the bigger cats? He wants a bigger one. Sailed with my wife a couple of weeks ago at the Booti Booti Cup (Forster) and after seeing the larger cats and how the Mari went with us both on board, guess what? She wants a bigger one. Thinking of a Nacra or Hobie 18, not Hobie 16. Doesn't have to be a speed machine but want it to readily handle crew weight of 2 adults and also 2 trapeze. Don't think I need the added complication of a spinnaker Does anybody have any suggestions Brad
darcy1945
Hobie 18, most suitable large cat, cruiser/racer, the large furling headsail and carrying capacity, being its strongest points.
Lilliput
Thanks Darcy Think that's the direction I'm headed Brad
madboutcats
G'day Brad, Have you found a cat yet? There's a couple of Nacra 5.8's listed on here that would be perfect for you. The one at $1500 would be a much faster and probably lighter boat than the hobie 18's and the one at $8000 with near new sails would be a pleasure to move on the beach etc as it has bomber tyre rollers and is a lighter build.
