arthurgeoff44
Have just bought a GCat, dims. about 5m x 2.4m, mast about 8m, dual trapeze. All in good condition new sails/tramp so dont expect any immediate problem with replacing parts. Wont have a chance for a few weeks to take it out. Vendor said he thought it was built in Hawai. Have bought it to give my grandkids sailing experience, my last small boats were cats, Hobie 14's must have been 30+ years back. Anyone with any knowledge of a GCat or where I might get replacement parts in the future? Also while waiting for the GCat to become available I bought a Caper Cat 14 - hull, rigging, mast, jib, reg. trailer all in good nick, but (although usable) ideally needs new mainsail and tramp. Will advertize for sale before Christmas but available prior - Geoff
Emmessee
Hi there, Brisbane Catamaran Centre has most GCat parts. They are no longer made but either Prindle or nacra parts can be used in most cases to substitute for the GCat. I sailed on about 20 years ago. It was set up for camping and touring. Very retro. arthurgeoff44
Emmessee, thanks for info. Did 'your' GCat have hull storage (mine has no access) also a front (ie second) trampoline as mine has - Geoff
Emmessee
Wasn't mine pal. I was on holidays at Port Stephens and this bloke was sailing it at Winda Whoppa. He was just having fun out of the caravan park and after chatting and the wind getting up he asked me out. He was not much of a sailer like myself, but geeze we had fun reching back and forth for about 2 hours.
