2006 Winter Series Regatta

SATURDAY 8th and SUNDAY 9th July 2006

NOTICE OF RACE

1. ORGANISATION

The organising authority and venue will be the Mooloolaba Dinghy Sailing Club Inc, Mooloolaba Yacht Club, Parkyn Pde, Mooloolaba, QLD 4575.

2. RULES

The regatta will be governed by the current Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS), the prescriptions and special regulations of the Australian Yachting Federation (AYF) (Addendum A, Part 2), the respective participating Class Rules, this Notice of Race except as changed by the Sailing Instructions and the Sailing Instructions.

4. ADVERTISING

The regatta is designated Category A in accordance with Appendix 1 regulation 20.

5. ELIGIBILITY and ENTRY

5.1 General

a. The Regatta is open to all Off the Beach Class of Dinghies and Catamarans with a VYC Rating.

b. Racing will be conducted over three courses:

Course A, - Catermaran, 49er & 29er, 505, Sharpie, 470, 420, NS, Contender, Finn, etc

Course B, - Laser, Sabot, Optimist, Flying Eleven, Vagabond, etc

Course C, - Classes within the Mooloolah River, (intended for Children not capable of sailing out in the Bay)

Classes with less than 5 entries may be grouped with another Class, and at the discretion of the organising authority.

5.2 Entry

Eligible boats may enter on the attached entry form, and mailed to the Race Secretary.

Early Entries received by 5.00pm 1st July 2006, will be eligible to win $100.00 cash, drawn on Sunday at the presentation.

Late entries will not be accepted after the Start of Heat 1.

5.3 Entry Disclaimer

It is the Competitor’s decision to enter, start, or continue in any race of this Regatta. Competitors shall accept that their participation in the Regatta is at their sole exclusive risk in every respect. By way of entry to the Regatta competitors shall indemnify the Mooloolaba Dinghy Sailing Club and their officers, members, servants and agents in respect of any claims and/or demands of whatever nature which may be made upon them in connection with or howsoever arising from their participation or intended participation in the Regatta.

Competitors shall acknowledge that the Mooloolaba Dinghy Sailing Club, their officers, members, servants and agents accept no responsibility in respect of loss of life, personal injury or loss or damage to property which may be sustained by reason of their participation or intended participation in the Regatta or howsoever arising in connection with this event. Attention is drawn to ISAF Fundamental Rule 4, which states: “The responsibility for a boat’s decision to participate in a race or to continue racing is hers alone”.

5.4 Insurance

All owners/competitors shall have current insurance for the boat entered, with third party liability insurance cover of not less than $A 5,000,000. Owners/Competitors not holding such cover shall withdraw their entry. By submitting this entry you guarantee the Mooloolaba Dinghy Sailing Club that owners/competitors do hold current insurance.

6. EVENT FORMAT & SCHEDULE OF RACES

The regatta will comprise a maximum of six scheduled races.

No warning signal will be made after 1430hrs on Sunday 9th July.

Prize Giving will be as soon as possible after last race Sunday 9th July.

7. SAILING INSTRUCTIONS

The Sailing Instructions will be available at registration.

8. RACING AREA

The racing area will be within 3 nm. of Point Cartwright, details will be advised at the competitors meeting.

9. COURSES

The courses will be assigned in the Sailing Instructions and at the competitors meeting.

10. SCORING

The Low Points Scoring System, Appendix A.4.1 will apply.

The Regatta shall consist of a maximum of 6 races, of which 3 races shall be completed to constitute a series.

Each boats series score will be the total of her race scores, except if 5 or more races are completed, she may discard her worst score.

11. PRIZES

Prizes will be presented as soon as possible after the last race. Prizes will be awarded at the discretion of the organizing authority.
