Darryl J Barrett
On Saturday, am, the 18th November 2006 the” Goolwa to Meningie Sailing Classic” starts from Goolwa at the bottom of the Murray river in South Australia, and is raced upstream on the river to Lake Alexandrina, across lake Alexandrina to the entrance into Lake Albert (the “narrows”), through the narrows then across Lake Albert to finish at Meningie at the south eastern end of the lake. This is not a race for the “faint hearted”, it’s a long way (approx’ 70 plus kms), and there are a lot of “traps for the unwary”, but all in all it is a REAL CLASSIC that truly does “separate the boys from the men”. It is said of this race that just to be a finisher carries bragging rights for a whole sailing lifetime. Open to ALL cats, as well as the heartiest of mono-maran sailers. Details are available off he net at http://lm.net.au/~meningiesc/Goolwa%20to%20Meningie.htm
