QLD NACRA ASSOCIATION Posted January 20, 2016 Report Share Posted January 20, 2016 38th Nacra Nationals-Lake Cootharaba - Noosa River Sunshine Coast This event is to be held from the 31st December 2016 to the 5th January 2017. Registration will be held on the 30 th December 1-4pm and 31st 9-10am. Lake Cootharaba is a great holiday destination just 2 hours north of Brisbane. The lake provides safe sailing with flat water and good breezes from the ocean nearby. The accommodation varies from camping on the lake foreshore to houses and Noosaville just 15 minutes away. Lake Cootharaba provides a relaxed venue with it laid back atmosphere. The club has hosted many nationals and world titles over the years and are keen sailors alike. Noosa-Located at the northern end of the Sunshine coast is an easy 160kn drive north of Brisbane, which has an international airport. Noosa is also just 30 minutes drive from the local airport, which has daily connections from all major Australian cities. The beautiful beach resort of Noosa is alive with shops, restaurants and accommodation ranging from 5 star resorts to back packer lodges. From Noosa visitors can easily join a 4wd tour and drive along the beach to Rainbow beach, the departure point for World heritage listed Fraser island the world’s largest sand island. The nationals are a great place to learn from fellow sailors with 12 races plus having a family holiday at the same time. If you are a local club sailor you will learn more in this week than most do in a year’s time. Ultimately this will make your sailing more enjoyable. This year we are offering more family social events · Organised training day · New year’s street party · Meet the fleet party · Afternoon park party · Ladies social day · Presentation dinner at the local historic pub Also included in the entry · 12 races · T-shirt for competitors · Trophies for place getters and handicap. We are expecting well over 75 Nacra catamarans to be present and with great flat water and good sea breezes this will be an event you will want to attend.
