Michael Bradshaw
Another rigging question in regards to the tension on the wires attached to the spreader. How tight should these wires be? I was out in 20-25 knots last weekend and I noticed at times the wires seemed slack. Is this due to the mast naturally bending with the wind? The wires attached at the mast base have an incremental scale. Is there a standard number they should be set to?
Guest tension
depends on crew weight. for an average crew set the diamonds to 40mm rake. measured from mast track to a batten laid across the back of the diamond wires at the spreaders. borrow or purchase a Loos gauge and set to approx 38/40 lbs. extra heavy loosen 1 full turn.
