G'day Brendan,

If your just sailing for fun on your 5.2, I'd try fabricating a daggerboard using the old one as a template?

Problem is that by the time you purchase the materials, then stuff around working it into the right shape, it's probably not going to be much cheaper than just buying the new one.

Good luck either way.

Cheers

  • 3 weeks later...

good info guya/gals.

The general consensus is that the daggerboard is expensive to produce and probably wont beas stiff/ strong as a factory UNIT. I have not tracked down a dagger or wrecked boat yet so might fork out the cash on a new dagger and main.. Te old girl will sail better and faster.

Still if anyone knows of a 5.2 going cheap (any condition) le me know!! :-(

Hi Brendan,

Did you loose your centreboard or break it to 2 pieces.

If you have damaged the centreboard it may be able to be repaired by a local fibreglasser which is a cheaper option than buying a new one.

Second hand parts are pretty scarce.
