sailorjohn
We are having a ball with the 5.0 and go out most week ends.Stepping the mast no longer presents a problem but rigging the shrouds & main chainplates to the hull eye with a clevis pin and stainless ring is a challenge. We seem to drop pins & rings in the water(never to be seen again!) and the finger nails do not seem made for opening the stainless rings!! Is there a simpler faster system-we are recreational sailors only. I used the toggle pin & wire on our old Hobie but this would not fit under the nylon chainplate sleeve cover which might even disengage a toggle-this would be a disaster. Any advice appreciated thanks John
xmatelot
Hi John, Some sailors prefer to take the covers off, and use shackles, easier, but it's a matter of convenience. You can get spring clips that push into the clevis pin. As you say, nails have to be tough I would never use the swivel toggle pins at any stage. Just my thoughts. pete

ralph
john, Use a pair of plyers to turn the end on the ring out only about 3 or 4 mm at a slight angle will enable you to slip the ring through the pin with ease
