NACRAJON
I want to put a metal grommet in the middle of my tramp, for shock cord. I don’t have time to remove the tramp and take it to a sail maker. Can I heat up a metal rod red hot through the tramp to create the rights sized hole with a melted rim, and then put one of those grommets on from a grommet kit from Bunnings? Or is there an easier way to do it without stuffing my tramp? Jon
sting
I did this on my old stingray.First of all use a stainless steel grommet not copper, copper is to soft. You can put the grommet on before making a hole. You will need someone under the tramp with a hammer to push against the bottom grommet while someone hammers down on the top. Then you can either cut the centre out, or melt it out with a soldering iron.sting. sting
jon,i dont want to give you a bum steer but the more i think about it, i might of made a hole in the tramp before placing the grommet in.Melting a hole in the tramp sounds like a good idea to me.sting. Loose Change
If the tramp is made from the black mesh stuff I would release the tension from it first before melting a hole just to prevent the tension in the tramp from pulling the hole bigger than I would want it and I think I would use a tube just a tad smaller than the hole I want rather than a rod.
