St Leonards Yacht Club and Motor Squadron a family oriented sailing club, sited at St Leonards Victoria which is on the beautiful Bellarine Peninsula on the western side of Port Phillip Bay. Founded in 1964 the Club has a proud history offering a small, friendly environment for people of all ages and boating interests.

We are a combined sailing club and motor squadron with facilities catering for both sailers and fisherman.

The Club promotes all aspects of sailing with the predominant classes being mainly Heron, A Class, Tasar, Mirror & Paper Tiger.

1 RULES

1.1 The championship will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing

and the prescriptions of Yachting Australia as modified by the sailing instructions. All boats

shall comply with YA Special Regulations, Part 2 for off the beach boats.

2 ADVERTISING

2.1 The Championships are classified as a Category C Event in accordance with Appendix 1,

Regulation 20 and the Prescriptions of the Yachting Australia.

2.2 Boats may be required to display advertising chosen and supplied by the organising

authority.

3 ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY

3.1 The regatta is open to all boats of the Formula 16 class.

3.2 Eligible boats may enter on the attached Entry Form which shall be lodged with St

Leonards Yacht Club and Motor Squadron by 1200hrs, Friday 2nd April 2010 and accompanied

by the entry fee and documentation specified.

3.3 All skippers shall be financial members of the Australian Formula 16 Catamaran

Association.

3.4 All skippers and crews shall be a financial member of a Club affiliated with their respective

state Yachting Association or National Body.

3.5 Late entries will be accepted at the discretion of the organising authority.

4 FEES

4.1 The entry for the championships is AU$100 for singled handed boats and AU$120 for

double handed boats.

5 SCHEDULE

5.1

Friday 2nd April 2010, 0900 - 1200 hrs Registration and Measuring

Friday 2nd April 2010, 1400 hrs Heats 1 and 2 back to back

Saturday 3rd April 2010, 1100 hrs Heats 3 and 4 back to back

Saturday 3rd April 2010, 1400 hrs Heats 5 and 6 back to back

Sunday 4th April 2010, 1100 hrs Heats 7 and 8 back to back

Sunday 4th April 2010, 1100 hrs Heat 9 and Resail back to back

5.2 The scheduled time of the warning signal for the first race is 1400 hours.

5.3 The Race Committee reserves the right to change the race schedule solely at its discretion.

6 MEASUREMENTS

6.1 A boat or equipment may be inspected at any time for compliance with the class rules and

sailing instructions.

7 SAILING INSTRUCTIONS

7.1 The sailing instructions will be available after 0900 hours on Friday 2nd April 2010 at St

Leonards Yacht Club and Motor Squadron.

8 VENUE

8.1 The racing area will be on the waters of the Bellarine Peninsula on the western side of Port

Phillip Bay adjacent to the St Leonards Yacht Club and Motor Squadron.

9 THE COURSES

9.1 The courses shall consist of windward and return with finish in front of the clubhouse as

described in the Sailing Instructions.

10 PENALTY SYSTEM

10.1 Rule 44.1 is changed so that the Two-Turns Penalty is replaced by the One-Turn Penalty.

11 SCORING

11.1 The Low Point scoring system of Appendix A will apply.

11.2 3 races are required to be completed to constitute a series.

(a) When fewer than 4 races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of

her race scores.

(b) When from 4 to 7 races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of

her race scores excluding her worst score.

© When 8 or more races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her

race scores excluding her two worst scores.

12 SUPPORT BOATS

12.1 Support boats shall be marked with the SLYCMS club burgee.

13 RADIO COMMUNICATION

13.1 Except in an emergency, a boat shall neither make radio transmissions while racing nor

receive radio communications not available to all boats. This restriction also applies to mobile

telephones.

14 PRIZES

14.1 Prizes will be awarded to yachts as follows.

(a) F16 Australian Champion, 2nd, 3rd (double-handed or single-handed boats).

(b) 1st double-handed/sloop rig boat.

15 DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY

15.1 Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See rule 4.

15.2 Decision to Race. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage

or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the

regatta.

16 INSURANCE

16.1 Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party liability insurance with a

minimum cover of AU$5,000,000 per event or the equivalent.

Annual General Meeting

The Annual General Meeting of the Australian Formula 16 Catamaran Association is scheduled for

the evening of Friday the 2nd April 2010.

Meals and Events

St Leonards YC and MS run a canteen at lunch times providing soft drinks, tea, coffee, rolls, pies

pasties, quiches and the like. They will have a liquor licence for the days of the event with drinks

available at reasonable prices. The St Leonards Hotel is quite reasonable for meals and

accommodation too, their website is www.stleonardshotel.com.au.

The Club will be holding a Rock and Roll Night on Saturday 3rd April and bacon and eggs

breakfast on the beach the morning of Sunday 4th April.

A Presentation Dinner will be held the night of Sunday 4th April.
