cat scratch fever
I can sometimes unevenly tension my stays when setting up. It seems a real physical struggle pulling down the stays to the right hole to get suitable tension. Does anyone use turnbuckles and tension up that way - it seems an easy answer though i had not recalled seeing cats with turnbuckles fitted
Dave
Most Paper Tiger sailors use turnbuckles on stays and they are excellent. The most common are Ronstan and SeaLoc. However, they don't use them to tension the stays once attached. They use them to tune the stay tensions. They would still use grunt to get them on if their rig is tight. However, PTs have the advantage of being able to lean on the lower stay to assist attaching the upper stay. Dave.
Phil Palmer
What about sliding your main traveller out to the last side that is to be tensioned and crank on the main sheet to make life easy? Phil
berny
I found my boat went best with very loose stays.
CleverNickname
I use my trapeze to put tension on the rig then I can attach the stay to the desired hole in the chainplate.
