mal gray
The inaugural Aust F18 Assoc meeting was held at Cootharaba this weekend just past. Positions as follows PRESIDENT Mal Gray VICE Russ Mcdonald SECRETARY Coggo TREAS Mick Guinea MANUF REP Warren Guinea NACRA Steve Fields HOBIE PUBLICITY Mick and the rest of us CHIEF MEASURER Peter Skewes ASSIST MEASURER Andrew holden OUR GOALS: 1- To coordinate and manage the affairs and rules of the class in cooperation with the International Formula 18 Catamaran Association, the Australian Yachting Federation and registered builders. 2 - To maintain the level rating character of the Formula 18 catamarans. 3 - To promote and develop competition in the F18 Class. 4 - To comply with objects and decisions of the International Formula 18 Catamaran Association. 5 - To generally encourage and foster enjoyment of the sporting and recreational aspects of sailing All attending boats were measured. (We ran out of time on spinnakers) The fleet of 12 F18s enjoyed a great couple of days of racing and socialising (some more than others!) F18s on 70 yardstick, finished 1st and 2nd in the very competitive division one, which consisted of boats under 75 yardstick. Racing was tight in the variable conditions. Starting and getting to the top mark in good shape was the determining factor in getting a good result. Overheard on the beach " this f18 doesn't feel any heavier than my XXXXXXX cat" They certainly don't feel any heavier on the water and they still perform well if you point them the right way. Interestingly, The oldest tiger there, weighed the same as the newest one! full results www.lcsc.org.au
