Controversy day one at the Worlds

Recommended Posts

The first day of official racing at the Stena Line Formula 18 Catamaran Worlds in Holland has been rocked by controversy. Firstly, the official travelling to the event with the official starting pistol, was thrown in jail at the German border as a suspected terrorist. Then in the third race of the day, held in boisterous conditions, an individual recall was signalled without sound signals and only twelve finishers from a fleet of one hundred and forty-one were awarded a finishing place. It seems that one hundred and twenty competitors have filed a protest. Aussies Darrren Bundock and Greg Goodall are near the top of the points table despite a DNS in race three.
