Dave
The 2007 NSW Paper Tiger Catamaran State Championships were held over the Australia Day long weekend at Mannering Park Yacht Club on Lake Macquarie. The winner was the defending state champion and recently crowned Australian Champion, Greg Williams, from Griffith. Greg won five of the six races sailed. In the last race, he came from well down the fleet at the first mark to finish second, the race being won by his father Garry, a 19-times NSW State Champion. Runner-up was Kim Marcovitch, from the host club, with third place going to Garry Williams from Wagga Wagga. Seven races were programmed, but two were lost on the second day after a very strong southerly ripped through the area. Conditions were mixed with light, medium and heavy races. Mannering Park YC did a great job of running the event, led by Brett Hord and backed up by a small but dedicated band of helpers. Final Results 1. Greg Williams (Wagga Wagga) 1-1-1-1-1-2, 5pts 2.
