Speers Point 14ft / Mono Regatta

8 x 14ft cats plus a big bunch of monos signed on for Speers point. The wind was light and a bit shifty but very pleasant weather and conditions.

Excellent rigging parking launching and club facilities.

The shifting breeze meant the lead changed a few times during the Saturday races. Pointed Reply (Mari) led for a while as did Angry Ant (Arrow), as did Racing Strips (Arrow) but Mojo (PT) was in front when it counted !

We sat in very pleasant sunshine on Sunday morning waiting for the breeze. We headed out in a building NE that was battling with a westerly. The divide was half way towards the wing mark. A reach to a work around the mark then back to a reach. On the last leg there were 4 boats abreast, Mojo reached the wind line first but Angry Ant won the race to the finish line.

Overall results 1st Mojo, 2nd Pointed Reply, 3rd Angry Ant.

The last time I sailed at Speers Point was on a Heron in 1974.....hopefully not such a big wait for the next sail.

Shame about the clash with ACT but hopefully the calendar will work better next year.

I look forward to my next sail at SPASC.
