NOTICE OF RACE

2009 Regatta

7th – 8th November 2009

1. Rules and Organising Authority.

This regatta is organised by the Richmond River Sailing and Rowing Club and will be governed by the ‘rules’ as defined in the ISAF Racing Rules of Sailing for 2009 – 2012, the prescriptions and YA Special Regulations, Part1, Category 7 and Part 2, Off the Beach.

2. Safety Regulations.

The attention of all entrants is drawn to Yachting Australia Special Regulations Part 2 which shall apply.

All competitors shall display sail numbers.

3. Advertising.

In general the regatta is designated as a Category “A” Event ISAF Regulation 20 in accordance with Appendix J and the prescriptions of the YA; however to a Category “C” level may be acceptable if that advertising is compliant with individual class rules.

4. Eligibility and Entry.

The regatta is open to all boats that have a design yardstick rating under VYC. Divisions sponsored by the RRSRC are Trailer Sailers, Monohulls, Catamarans, and Juniors. A minimum of 5 boats is required to comprise a class. Entrants need to complete and submit the entry form to a club official with race fees to be eligible, 30 minutes before the nominated start time of the first race. Parents and /or Guardians of crewmembers under the age of 18 years will have to concur such acknowledgement. Acknowledgement forms will be available at the sign-on desk.

5. Insurance Requirements.

Each participating boat shall be insured with third-party liability insurance of not less than AUD$1,000,000 (recommended AUD$10,000,000) or equivalent thereof in any other currency for any accident. All owners/competitors who sign the Entry Form are deemed to have made a declaration that they hold such cover.

6. Fees.

Beach Entries $40.00 for the whole regatta (3 races) – Daily Entries $30.00

Registrations for individual races entries will be accepted up to 30 minutes at race headquarters before the official race start. Individual Race Entry fee $30.00 on Saturday or $15.00 on the Sunday.

7. Schedule of Events

8th Nov Heat No . 2 morning

Briefing and Race Times

Saturday 7th NovOne race only to Pimlico Island and back.

1st Trailer Sailors 2nd Monohulls

3nd Catamarans

“The Hurfords LongLine” 1245hrs Briefing. The race is scheduled to start at 1315hrs with a warning signal 5 minutes prior to the prescribed start.

Sunday 8th Nov “The Arthur Walker Construct"

1030hrs Briefing. Race start 1115hrs or as soon as breeze is evident.

Sunday 8th Nov 3“The J H Williams One Step” 1245hrs Briefing. The race is scheduled to start at 1315hrs with a warning signal 5 minutes prior to the prescribed start.

8. Sailing Instructions.

The sailing instructions for the regatta will be available from race headquarters from 1100hrs on Saturday 7th Nov after registration forms have been completed and accepted by the Race Committee and race fees have been paid.

9. Racing Area & Courses.

Saturday: long course race for all boats (A, C or M or J, A)

Sunday: Triangles in front of club.

10. Scoring.

The Low Point Scoring system, Appendix A will apply. Each boat’s score will be the total of her race scores. All races shall be counted.

11. Disclaimer of Liability.

Competitors participate in the series entirely at their own risk. See rule 4, Decision to Race. The organising authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during or after the regatta.

12. Prizes.

Prizes will be awarded for this regatta at the discretion of the Race Committee. Prizes to be awarded are dependent on the number of entrants in the regatta. It should be noted that scratch prize winners will not be eligible for handicap prizes.

Presentation of prizes for the regatta will be held as soon as possible following the finish of the regatta.

13. Meals.

The RRSRC will provide catering throughout the regatta at the clubs canteen. Saturday evening drinks BYO and meal price TBA.
