On the 19th & 20th of March Port Hunter Sailing Club hosted the Nacra 5.8 NSW states combined with the F18's & the Taipan's states. The weather preceding this event was extremely poor, high winds, huge seas & constant rain.On Saturday morning the weather had improved & with 9 registered Nacra 5.8's we went to battle 3 races in Stockton Bight. The conditions were about 15-18 knots from the south & the seas 1.5-2 metre swell from the south east.(Near perfect conditions). After 3 races & no drops the results were (1st) Beam Reach (2nd) Redback (3rd) Graceland.Saturday night was a time were we could sit down & have a meal & the booze & stories flowed freely.Sunday morning a decision was made to complete the series in Newcastle Harbour. With 3 races to go,a 10-15 knot southerly,3 shipping movments & submerged objects it was going to be a hot contest. After the 3 races on Sunday, the final results after 1 drop for the series were (1st) Crazy Buoys KCC (2nd) Beam Reach PHSC (3rd) Graceland PHSC.Thank to all who competed, feel free to add to this post & i hope you all come back to Port Hunter soon.Regards GRACELAND 1216.
