Drew
Have just bought an old 5.8 (1450) and am trying to figure out mast rake. I believe that the measurement is from the hull connection to bridal foil at the front then back to the rear inspection hatch. Is this correct? I do not have enough stay adjustment to achieve this. Cheers Drew
Emmessee
That is close mate. Just take it back as far as you can at the moment and see how you go. I used to go back to there for when it was over 18knots or so. Light stuff just past the rear beam and past the inspection port if it was blowing snot. That is usually only for racing too. Social sailing you will not know the difference really.
Emmessee
and if you need some more stay length, just buy a new one from the boys at BCC. Not exxy and worth it. Better still, just get the measurements of someone and see if your is shorter. The best way to learn to rig properly is to go where there are others like creatures on the beach.
