QB2
I noticed in the latest A class notice fof the Lake Cootharaba easter races competitors need to have $5 million in liability/insurance cover plus $75 entry fee. what are the costs or liability insurance and is this separate to boat insurance? John Dowling
Public liability insurance is required in pretty much all major events these days and many clubs also require it in their club NOR's. It's included in the recommended NOR wording in the blue book. In fact A Class events require general insurance including public liability. Most boatcover comprehensive policies include public liability - but check the fine print. Cost? - depends on how much you insure the boat for. $20,000 should be around 250 to 300 if you've been a good boy and don't have a high claims record. The $75 entry fee is a bargain for eight races, a quality regatta polo shirt and prizes. In fact the event will be run at a loss. Not only that, there is free entry to visiting southerners. There also will definitely not be a ban on Bundy Rum at the club as is currently being proposed for some niteclubs in Brisbane!
