start in six weeks time, 1st round speers point sailing club (newcaslte). time to get the boats out of the shed dust them off, get the spiders and ants out of the sail boxs and gear up for this seasons super series. by the sounds of it, this year is going to be the biggest yet so if you don't have a nacra get one.

Here is the NOR for the first round of the Nacra Super Series @ Speers Point on the 25 - 26 October 2008.

This is also an Open Regatta and we welcome entries from other classes of boats.

NOTICE OF RACE

ANNUAL REGATTA 2008

SPEERS POINT AMATEUR SAILING CLUB

Entries are invited for the regatta to be organised by Speers Point Amateur Sailing Club Inc.

Date of Regatta: 25-26 October 2008

Location: Speers Point Amateur Sailing Club, The Esplanade, Speers Point.

Rules. The regatta will be governed by the ISAF Racing Rules of Sailing 2005-2008 (RRS), the prescriptions and special regulations of the YA, the rules of the individual classes (except as any of these are altered by the sailing instructions) and the sailing instructions.

Advertising. The event will be a Category “C” event as described in the Racing Rules of Sailing 2005 – 2008, Rule 79 and ISAF Regulation 20, Advertising Code.

Eligibility and Entry.

The regatta is open to all dinghy classes and off-the-beach catamarans.

Eligible boats may enter on the Entry Form available at the clubhouse on the day.

Entry Fee. A Regatta entry fee of $15 for Juniors (under 18 at 1 October) and $35 for Seniors (or $10 for Juniors and $20 for Seniors per day) is payable upon entering; for Nacra SuperSeries (SS) entrants $40.

Insurance: All competing boats must have a minimum of $10 million Public Liability Insurance. Completion of the entry form is a declaration that boat has such insurance.

Schedule of Events.

Registration: Saturday 25 October 2008 9.30 am – 1.30 pm Clubhouse

Races are scheduled as below:

Heat 1 & Nacra SS 2 Saturday 25 October 2008 2.25 pm.

Heat 2 & Nacra SS 3 Sunday 26 October 2008 9.55 am.

Heat 3 & Nacra SS 4 Sunday 26 October 2008 12.55 pm

6.1 There will be a competitors meeting at 12.00 noon on 25 October in the Clubhouse.

Note. The number of entries and the number of classes will determine how many starts are programmed.

Sailing Instructions. These will be available at registration.

Sailing Area. In the area known as Cockle Bay and Warners Bay, Lake Macquarie.

Courses. These may vary according to classes of boats and will be shown in the sailing instructions.

Scoring. The low point system of scoring shall be used in accordance with Rule A2.

Prizes. Prizes will be awarded as follows.

1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes will be awarded in each Class* or division.

* A minimum of six boats is required to enter to form a separate class.

Safety. Approved Personal Floatation Devices (buoyancy vests) shall be worn by all competitors while racing.

Camping. There is a limit of 10 camping sites available at the Club on Saturday night. Please notify the Club before the weekend.

yes there will be 5 rounds. next round is the state titles at wollongone at the end of this month. then manering park on aus day long weekend, final round we are still waiting to hear from port hunter as to wether we will be able to hold it there in relation to the harbour becoming very busy with coal ship movments. ( if the world is in recession by then the demand for coal may not be as high and it may be better for sailing). if we are not able to run at port hunter then we will be having the round elsewhere.
