Lick the Knife Posted August 19, 2007 Report Share Posted August 19, 2007 Hi all, had my first sail on the Gippsland Lakes on the Formula Catamarans Australia Blade last yesterday. This is one awesome boat and I can't wait to tune it fully, but it showed me more than enough to have me excited . In 10 to 15 kts downwind under kite the acceleration was breath taking, with the boat showing no signs of reaching top speed like other F16's I have sailed, it just wanted to keep going faster as the gusts increased. Can't wait to sail it in 20kts . The Blade needs to be sailed from the wire under kite so you can power it up and use the speed that the hulls are capable of handling, which will give it a better VMG than sitting in and make it capable of matching F18's for offwind speed.
