xmatelot
do you really need a winch?, i thought you had a 16 ft cat. I have allways reckoned that unless you are disadvantaged a winch set up is not worth the effort on a small cat. BUT,(big but)that is only my opinion. pete

paulvan
Cheers Norman. Whats a gin pole??well since last season I have learnt a few tricks.Stand at the back of the tramp facing sternward. With mast in step lift mast up on to shoulder.Turn about then walk forward pushing up the mast with the crew pulling on the forestay. If help is around I get them to hold onto the traps to stop sideways movement. Its still hard when its windy.
