Camping at Cootharaba

I hope to be camping/sailing at lake Cootharaba during the school holidays and need some advice as I have never been there before. Where is the best place to camp, is there room to keep the boat and trailor close to our tent, how much does it cost etc. Any info will help.

for camping contact the Boreen Point Camping Ground:Council park. Tents & Caravans. plenty of space, no bookings. Ph: (07) 5485 3244.

Elandra point is on the northern side of the lake and mainly appear to take on larger groups for canoe and walking trips etc.take a look on the net for their contact details.For camping there I think its $7 per person the first night and $5/head for every night after that

Boreen point camping ground is the best as you are right on the water and can basically step out of a tent/caravan into the water

When are you going to Cootharaba?

I will hopefully and finally get my cat back on the water there this weekend provided the 30- 40 knots predicted for tomorrow don't stay

Just got back about 4 hours ago. Had a great time with afternoon breezes of 14 to 18 knots. The water level is low and you have to walk your boat for about 100 metres till you can sail and then another 100 till the rudders can be lowered. The camp grounds were very busy but a lot of people were leaving today so some of the better sites will be available.
