humungus2 Posted May 7, 2008 Author Report Share Posted May 7, 2008 Due to the associations financial state, it looks like the nats will be at Mannering Park as part of their Australia Day Regtta. So it is not over Christmass and takeing sailors away from their families. This should allow a lot more sailors to compeate and there for more compertition. Pointed Reply Posted May 7, 2008 Report Share Posted May 7, 2008 Mannering Park normally have their Open Regatta on the weekend before Australia Day which would be the 17/18th for 2009 (it was 19/20th this year). Pointed Reply Posted May 8, 2008 Report Share Posted May 8, 2008 Mannering Park Yacht Club is on the southern end of Lake Macquarie, just up from Doyalson. A great place to sail, with a sea breeze but sheltered water. The caravan park is next to the sailing club and right on the water's edge. Excellent grass rigging and launching. The people are friendly and run a good regatta. There is a good bunch of dedicated and talented Maricat sailors plus support and encouragement for the learner and inexperienced sailor. I was raised on Lake Macquarie, thriving in-bred metropolis of Dora Creek, (a bit like Tanilba Bay but classier) and went to Wyong High School. But until now I had never heard of Mannering Park.
