shwell
Hello, does anyone know of where a rear beam bolt can be got? The boat is a Jan Linsard from about '84. The bolt goes through the gunwhale. Thanks, shwell.
pondskum
Hey Michael try the Universal Bolt Bloke if you have one near by or the local yellow pages it shouldn't be anything to special just stainless steel. If you got a sample just take it in. Thought you were riding the A Class now not fixing Tigers still. Regards Denis
shwell
Yeah am on an A now, the bloke who bought my boat needs it. It's a bit of a puzzle why he needs it though, I wonder how it came off - perhaps trailering.
tom
On a Jan hull, the bolt is welded to a stainless steel plate which is "bogged" in underneath the gunwhale. If it "dropped out", there must be a visible chunk of filler missing under the deck. To replace it, you will need to get an 8mm stainless bolt welded to a stainless plate. From memory the standard plate was 3mm by 75mm, and these had a nasty habit of pulling through the deck under load. Sometimes they just snapped where the bolt was welded onto the plate. This can be overcome by spreading the load over a greater distance under the gunwhale. (ie longer plate or even some stainless tubing)
