Pointed Reply
A good steady 12-15 knot southerly today. Israel had a blinder on Sweet 16, getting 1st cat and an overall 10th place. With his 9th in race one he is now in 12th place overall out of 129 boats. Dom on the Gemini was run down by his brother on Sweet 16. Ryan was second behind Israel with Zac back in the pack. The Maricat title is very tight with Israel on 5, Zac on 6 and Ryan on 7.

Pointed Reply
After four days of beautiful weather, it rained for the final day. At least the sails and boats got a wash ! The start was delayed for a short period while the wind settled. The race started in a reasonable south westerly. The Taipan had a great race and literally lapped the field for their second overall win. Bryce and Calib could have won the whole series if not for a "navigational" error in race 3. Ryan Willmott on the H16 had a good final race while Cameron and crew on the Tornado had great fun through out the week on this very big craft. The smaller cats had a great battle through out the race with Ryan, Zac, Dom and Israel all having a turn in the lead. Results in this race would determine the multihull positions. A one point all the divisions converged at the top mark with the faster monos and cats coming up on the slower monos and with the Taipan lapping them all to add to the mayhem. About 50 boats all trying to round the mark. Israel (Maricat) finished just behind Dom (Gemini) for a heat win, closely followed by Zac then Ryan on their Maris. The results show Zac as DNF but this will be checked. Bryce 1st, Israel 19th, Zac 20th, Ryan 21st, Dom 26th and Ryan H16 34th. Israel, on Sweet 16 is the Multihull and Maricat Champion for 2011, followed by Zac on Pointed Reply then Ryan on Sea Frog then Dominic on the Gemini. Overall the multhulls did very well against a strong fleet of 127 entries. Israel was 14th overall, Bryce on the Taipan 22nd, Dominic 27th, Zac 28th, Ryan on the H16 29th, Ryan Dudman 33rd, Cameron tornado 66th and Drew Morris 103rd. Full results are on the Belmont 16th website.
darcy1945
Finished saturday, over 200 competitors, dinghy, skiff, keelboat and cats. Maricat div, Israel 1, Ryan 2, Zac 3. Multihull all, seniors Israil 1 (Mari 4.3 cat rig), Juniors Ryan 1, Zac 2, both cat rig. Mari cat rig were the only multis to field a class. Other multis included, Tornado, F16 (Taipan), Hobie 16, Gemini. Good showing for the Maris, poor for all other multi's. We need to promote the class in this annual event, suggest leasing cat rig Mari to any interested competitors from clubs near you (Not Foamies). I attend each year and would see that any boats would be properly cared for whilst at the venue. The scout hall at Mannering Park could be used for cheap accom/camping (20/25 min to venue). Any suggestions/feed back.
