Dave,17s do not have an active class, can be sailed cat or sloop rig, VYC Y/stick is a guide to performance. Unless you are buying for the right price I would stick to the more popular, (abundant second hand parts), classes, H16/18, Taipan, Nacra, depending on your ability/experience and weight a 14 may even suit better, Mari, windy.

Hi Dave i have a 2007 h17 sport but sail cat rigged, the 17 class attracted 6 boats at this years nationals in nsw earlier in the year which was the biggest fleet seen in a few years. All parts are still available through your local hobie dealer. in my opinion they are a great boat sail for the solo catamaran sailor.
