Matthew Dawson
We had a great day sailing at Torquay today. It was their Australia Day Regatta. http://torquaysailingclub.org.au/AustraliaDayRegatta.aspx Unfortunately we couldn't make it to the 'coaster' yesterday. We settled for three short course races today. They ran a quick windwood/return course. In the HUGE swell, the downwind legs were a hoot! 10-15 knots, blue sky, blue water - great stuff. Lots of Hobie 16's, a few Hobie 18's, 1 Viper (wow they're fast!), 1 A Class, 1 Mozzie with Spin and us. We were the slowest class out there but we beat a handful to the finish in each race so we were happy with that. Starts were chaotic! I guess that's what happens when you have got a bunch of boats that can handle a little ruff 'n tumble! I'll be back next year. Another good part - sailing only 25 minutes from home! Happy sailing.
