Torquay

We had a great day sailing at Torquay today. It was their Australia Day Regatta.

Unfortunately we couldn't make it to the 'coaster' yesterday. We settled for three short course races today. They ran a quick windwood/return course. In the HUGE swell, the downwind legs were a hoot! 10-15 knots, blue sky, blue water - great stuff.

Lots of Hobie 16's, a few Hobie 18's, 1 Viper (wow they're fast!), 1 A Class, 1 Mozzie with Spin and us. We were the slowest class out there but we beat a handful to the finish in each race so we were happy with that. Starts were chaotic! I guess that's what happens when you have got a bunch of boats that can handle a little ruff 'n tumble! :)

I'll be back next year.

Another good part - sailing only 25 minutes from home!

Happy sailing.
