Matt15
I don't know the sunny coast well but can suggest the following;Maroochydore river - A chap in the SEQHS group has been there afew times.Caloundra - I recently sailed @ Golden Beach to Bribe Island and Bullcock Beach. There are lots of access points along Golden Beach. Best to sail here @ high tide as there are lots of sand banks and you'll be perfecting your tack/gibe skills going north upwind along the channel. The tides can be a challenge too with low winds. Loads of places to swim and explore with kids. I'd google map afew hours to come up with a list then set off to check out the ones near by.HTH
