2016 Belvedere Humpybash 15th – 16th October 2016
 
Over the weekend of the 15th and 16th October 2016, the Humpybong Yacht Club will once again host its annual Humpybash regatta for all off-the-beach dinghies and catamarans.  Humpybong Yacht Club is a family focused sailing club and we actively encourage competitors of all experience levels to take part. 
 
As with all major events at Humpybong, overnight camping will be available to competitors and their families and the canteen will be open for the duration of the event. A BBQ will be held on the Saturday night with monies raised going to support the learn-to-sail programme.
 
Over the past 5 years HYC has been continually raising the standards of its regattas. In line with this approach, HYC are keen to run another ‘Bash that is bigger and better than last year both on and off the water. NOTICE OF RACE
1 Rules: 1.1 The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing.  1.2 The Organising Authority is the Humpybong Yacht Club Incorporated. 1.3 The Prescriptions and Safety Regulations of Yachting Australia will apply. 1.4 The conditions of Humpybong Yacht Club’s Maritime Safety Queensland Aquatic Event Authority as displayed on clubhouse notice boards will apply. 1.5 Racing rule 44.1 will be changed as per NOR 10.1. The changes will appear in full in the sailing instructions. The sailing instructions may also change other racing rules. 1.6 The rules of the respective class associations will apply. 1.7 If there is a conflict between languages the English text will take precedence. 2 Eligibility and Entry: 2.1 The regatta is open to boats that meet the definition of “Off-the-Beach” Catamarans or Dinghies.  2.2 A regatta for juniors with its own sailing Instruction shall be run in conjunction with open racing. 2.3 Pre-entries can only be made online. Eligible boats may enter by completing the online registration form located at: https://www.trybooking.com/231110 2.4 Late entries will be accepted on the day at the race registration desk located upstairs at HYC, but only online – computers will be available for this purpose. 2.5 All members of the crew must be a financial member of a yacht club affiliated with YQ/SA & hold a Sailing Australia registration number. New Humpybong Yacht Club membership or renewal is available on the day.

3 Classification: 3.1 Racing shall be conducted in Divisions based on VYC Yardstick Ratings. For any boat that does not have a current VYC rating the committee may determine a rating to be applied for this regatta only. Such determination shall be at the sole discretion of the Race Committee and shall not be grounds for redress. 4 Fees: 4.1 Required fees are as follows: Adults:  $70 for 2 days or $40 or 1 day Juniors: $30 for 2 days or $18 for 1 day 4.2 In the event of cancellation of one day’s racing, a refund of $30 for seniors and $15 for juniors will be made. A full refund will be made in the event of the cancellation of both days of the regatta. 5 Schedule: 5.1 Registration  Saturday October 15th between 8.00 – 10.00am. 5.2 Briefing  Saturday 15th October 2016 at 11.00am.  Sunday 16th October 2016 at 9.00am. 5.3 Dates of racing  Saturday 15th October 2016, 3 races with the scheduled time of the warning signal for the first race is 12:00pm  Sunday 16th October 2016, 3 races with the scheduled time of the warning signal for the first race is 10:00am 5.4 Presentation  The Presentation function will be held at the Belvedere Hotel in a private function area with finger food provided. Dress is casual (shirt with appropriate footwear). The function will commence at 4:30pm with presentations as close as possible to this time, depending upon race finish times. 6 Measurement: 6.1 All boats shall comply with class requirements where applicable. 7 Sailing Instructions: 7.1 The sailing instructions will be available on line on the HYC web site http://www.hyc.net.au before 14th October 2014 and at the race registration desk located upstairs at HYC on Saturday 15th October 2016. 8 Venue: 8.1 The Regatta site will be the Humpybong Yacht Club, situated at the Cnr Hornibrook Espl. & Oxley Ave, Woody Point, Qld 4019, and conducted on the waters of Bramble Bay. 
 
 
 
 
9 Courses: 9.1 Race Courses will be shown in the Sailing Instructions. 10 Penalty System 10.1 For the all classes rule 44.1 is changed so that the Two-Turns Penalty is replaced by the OneTurn Penalty. 11 Scoring: 11.1 The low point scoring system shall apply. Scoring shall be based on VYC rating. 11.2 A minimum of 3 races will be required to be completed to constitute a series. 11.2.1 When fewer than five (5) races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores including her worst score. 11.2.2 When five (5) races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her worst score.
 
12 Support Boats and Personnel  12.1 All support boats shall be registered with the Organising Authority via the online Officials Registration link as part of the competitors’ entry system and will be required to comply with local legislation and event support boat regulations. The Organising Authority may refuse registrations and accept later registrations at their sole discretion  12.2 All support boats shall clearly display the burgee of the club they represent at all times while afloat.  12.3 Only coaches, who hold, as a minimum, current Australia Sailing recognised Coach / Instructor Accreditation, or an equivalent international qualification, are authorised to go afloat in a coach boat within the course area.  12.4 Authorised coach boats within the course area shall keep to leeward of the start line between the preparatory and start signals and more that 50 meters clear of any competitor or mark of

the course between the start signal and the finish of the last boat, except when asked to assist by the Race Committee.  12.5 Non-registered coaches, parents, private and spectator craft must remain more than 100 meters outside the entire course area and not receive the above benefits. 12 Radio Communications: 12.1 Except in an emergency, a boat shall neither make radio transmissions while racing nor receive radio communications not available to all boats. This restriction also applies to mobile telephones. 12.2 The restriction on communications does not apply to GPS tracking devices provided the devices are stowed in a location and orientation such that the display cannot be viewed whilst racing. Smart phones may be used as tracking devices. All competitors may be directed by the Organising Authority to carry GPS tracking devices as provided by the Organising Authority. 13 Prizes: 13.1 Prizes will be given at the discretion of the organising committee based on divisions. 14 Insurance  14.1 Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party liability insurance with a minimum cover of $10 million per event or the equivalent.  15 Media Rights, Cameras and Electronic Equipment  15.1 By participating in the event, competitors automatically grant to the Organizing Authority, and their sponsors, the right in perpetuity to make, use and show, from time to time at their discretion, any motion pictures and live, taped or filmed television and other reproductions of the athlete during the period of the competition without compensation.  15.2 Boats may be required to carry cameras, sound equipment and positioning equipment as specified by the Organizing Authority.  15.3 The top three competitors as well as the individual race winners may be required to attend a media press conference each day.  16 Disclaimer of Liability  16.1 Attention is drawn to the I.S.A.F. RRS 2013-2016 Fundamental Rules, Rule 4. “The responsibility for a boat’s decision to participate in a race or to continue racing is hers alone.” Competitors participating in sailing at Humpybong Yacht Club do so entirely at their own risk. 16.2 The Humpybong Yacht Club Inc. and all parties involved in the organisation of events will not accept any liability for loss, material damage or personal injury or death sustained on conjunction with, or prior to, during, or after any event.  16.3 The Humpybong Yacht Club Inc. and all parties involved in the organisation of events are not responsible for the seaworthiness, or adequacy of a boat whose entry is accepted.
