For the first time in a long time in Australia in combination with the Hobie Association and special thanks to the host club Mannering Park Amateur sailing club here it is!!!

July 10th and 11th 2010

Lets see just how the warm waters of Lake Macquarie will warm our winter and warm our hearts.

For those of you that have not had the opportunity to sail on this lake pack your car and get your moves on!!

Accomodation located right beside the venue, full facilities including hot showers and full Canteen with hot food.

The organising authority is The Mannering Park Amateur Sailing Club Inc. in conjunction with the Hobie Cat Association of NSW Inc. and Australian National Hobie Cat Association Inc.

1. RACING RULES

The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined by the current Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS), the prescriptions and special regulations of Yachting Australia (YA) and the Class Rules of the International Hobie Class Association (IHCA), this Notice of Race (except as any of these are altered by the Sailing Instructions), and the Sailing Instructions.

If there is a conflict between languages, the English text will take precedence.

2. ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY

The regatta is open to all class legal Hobie Catamarans of the International Hobie Class Association.

2.1 A minimum of 5 entries is required to form a class. If sufficient entries for a class are not received by 10.30 am, Saturday 10th July 2010, the Organising Authority reserves the right to cancel racing or make other arrangements for the class concerned.

2.2 The skipper shall be a financial member of a State or National Yachting Authority.

2.3 The skipper shall be a member of a yacht club affiliated with its National Authority.

2.4 Eligible boats may enter by completing the attached form and sending it, together with the required fee

2.6 By email to regattas@manneringparkasc.org.au including the receipt number issued when making payment by EFT into Mannering Park Amateur Sailing Club’s Bank Account or payment using PayPal (the link may be found on the Mannering Park Amateur Sailing Club website www.manneringparkasc.org.au

2.7 Postal Entries are to be received by close of business Friday July 9th 2010

3. ALTERATIONS TO CLASS RULES

The Class Rules of the IHCA will be altered as follows:

3.1 Minimum age for the Masters Series is 45 years (for the skipper only) at the commencement of racing. (Proof of age will be required). The age of crew members in the Masters Series is open.

3.3 GrandMasters will compete for the Fossil Cup. Minimum age for the GrandMasters Series is 55 years (for the skipper only) at the commencement of racing. (Proof of age will be required). The age of crew members in the GrandMasters Series is open. This alters IHCA Class Rule: General Rule: 17.8.b.

4. ALTERATIONS TO RACING RULES

The RRS will be altered as follows:

4.1 While racing and afloat all competitors shall wear adequate Yachting Australia recognised Australian Standards approved personal buoyancy as referred to in RRS AYF Addendum ‘A’ Special Regulations Part 2 Off the Beach Boats Regulations R1 Personal Buoyancy, and shall observe YA recommendations 1, 2, 3 and 4 of Addendum ‘A’. Wet suits and dry suits do not meet these standards.

Flag Y will not be displayed before or with the warning signal. (This alters RRS 40)

4.2 A boat that may have broken a rule of Part 2 while racing may take a penalty at the time of the incident. Her penalty shall be one 360-degree turn penalty. (This alters RRS rules 44.1 and 44.2.)

5. ADVERTISING CATEGORY

The regatta is classified as a Category C event in accordance with the ISAF Advertising Code.

5.1 A boat shall display the sponsor’s decals (if supplied by the Organising Authority) at all times during the Regatta.

6. FEES

7. SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

7.1 There will be a maximum of 8 races for all classes.

The race committee may hold up to 4 races per day for each class with some back to back races.

8. MEASUREMENT

Measurement is not required, but it is the responsibility of each skipper to ensure her/his boat complies with the IHCA class rules. Random measurement checks and inspections may be carried out at any time. A boat notified of inspection shall follow the instructions of the Race Committee.

9. SAILING INSTRUCTIONS

The Sailing Instructions will be available to competitors on completion of registration.

10. RACING AREA

Races will be conducted on the southern end of Lake Macquarie in the vicinity of Mannering Park.

11. COURSES

The course shall be standard IHCA class courses.

12. SCORING

The Low Point scoring system, Appendix A.4.1 of the Racing Rules of Sailing as amended, will be used.

12.1 One (1) race is required to constitute a series.

12.2 When fewer than four (4) races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores.

12.3 When four (4) to eleven (11) races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her worst score.

13. RADIO COMMUNICATIONS

A boat shall neither make radio transmission while racing nor receive radio communication not available to all boats. This restriction also applies to mobile telephones.

14. SUPPORT BOATS/COACHES

Team Managers, Coaches and other support personnel shall keep 100m clear of the course area during racing, except in boats provided by the organising authority or when asked to assist by the Race Committee.

15. PRIZES

Prizes will be awarded at the discretion of the Organising Authority.

16. RIGHTS TO USE NAME AND LIKENESS

In participating in an event, a competitor automatically grants to the Organising Authority and the sponsors of the event, the right in perpetuity, to make, use and show, from time to time and at their discretion, any motion pictures, still pictures and live, taped or film television and other reproductions of him/her during the period of the competition for the said event in which the competitor participates and in all material related to the said event without compensation.

17. ENTRY DISCLAIMER

It is the competitor's decision to enter an event or to start and continue in any race. Competitors shall accept that their participation in an event is at their exclusive risk in every respect. See RRS Rule 4, Decision to Race.

All those taking part in the Regatta do so at their own risk and responsibility. The Organising Authority, the Mannering Park Amateur Sailing Club and any other organisation connected with the event, their officials, employees, agents and any sponsors, disclaim any and every responsibility for any loss, damage, injury or inconvenience that may occur to persons or things, both ashore and on the water, as a consequence of their participation in any way in the race.

18. INSURANCE

All boats competing in the Australian Hobie National Championships shall have third party insurance cover of not less than AUD$5,000,000 (recommended AUD$10,000,000) or equivalent thereof in any other currency for any accident.

All owners/competitors who sign the Entry Form are deemed to have made a declaration that they hold such cover.

Competitors may be required to produce evidence of such insurance and any competitor not holding this cover shall withdraw their entry.

Adequate racing insurance is also recommended for this event.

19. GENERAL INFORMATION

19.1 Mannering Park Amateur Sailing Club is located at the end of Grace Street, Mannering Park on the eastern side of Vales Point Peninsula. The rigging area is east of the club. There are general shops to purchase things from. There is a bus to Doyalson-Wyee RSL for meals. During the regatta breakfast, light snack and refreshments will be available from the club canteen.
