Guest aus177
what a great recreational boat. had one when I first started racing prior to getting into the Taipan Fleet. no centre boards, hull storage, two on trapeze, had a ton of fun, some even set up with outboard bracket. two things to look out for, trampoline track pop rivets ripping out of fibreglass and small splits along the mini keels underneath. leave on the beach, and enjoy your sailing. don dull

Re the out board bracket - Where and what outboard size/weight? PS You still in the job?

Emmessee
It would be great to see more of these sensational boats around. The 4.4 one man racer is a top boat very similar to the Nacra 14 square. I have sailed one once and it was an absolute pleasure. They are rather quick and would lead any 14 foot fleet to the top mark.
Guest Andi
I have a Calypso 4.4 and have been pleasantly surprised at the way it out performs its rating. (in mostly light air so far) I bought it about 5 months ago so i could step up into the bigger fleet being an in between weight of 60 kilos. I desperately needed to step up from a paper tiger. Fantastic boat 7/
Dave
Andi, I'm interested in why you "desperately needed to step up from a Paper Tiger". Why the desperate need? It certainly wasn't weight if you are 60kg. Just interested in your thoughts. Dave.

Guest Andi
Att: Dave in response to your question why the need to step up, well the PT fleet built up in mid 2003 and by the end of season 2003 it fell apart again, so in order to have a competitive race every weekend in decided to step up to a boat 85> and suitable for a Bantam weight to sail

PP
Maybe I should think about upgrading the Hydra 16 to a Calypso? Are the Calypso sails of modern shape and material? Can a Calypso give as much fun as my Hydra on a day of 15+ knots TWS? Only problem with the Hydra is it's age and need for maintainance so far...
