Wilson
Ever been pulling your big cat along on the beach rollers when one of the wheels hits a rock or patch of seaweed etc.? What happens? The roller stops but the boat keeps going. Wrestling the big cat and beach rollers up the beach is no fun. Try this: Tie a rope around the axle on the outside (assuming your roller wheels are on the inside of the hulls) of the wheel and lead it forward to the main beam. Just clip it on a saddle next to the inside of the hull. Obviously do this on both sides. Boat stays stable on the beach roller. - Peter.
HooD
We were tieing our rollers to the main beam about 20 years ago now. At the time we were sailing cats, at a yacht club with no beach, just rocks. on average they were about 10cm diameter, and most of them were reasonably loose. That was really hard work at low tide, and wrecked a lot of sets of rollers.
Wilson
Dear HooD, Am devastated that you did this 20 years ago - I thought I was the first one to dream this one up. - Peter.
HooD
Your being sarcastic Wilson!, well I hope you are. Some of the paper tiger guys down here, have gotten really fancy with thier rollers. They have attached aluminium A-frames to thier rollers. They tie the tip of the A-frame to the bottom of the dolphin striker, and it stops the rollers trying to turn over. I guess that must be a problem with a 50kilo boat..
