StevoD
Hi all, How tight should you tension the stays on your mast? I have a Nacra 14sq. I have set the forestays for the desired rake but am a real novice and am unsure how tight I should tension the back stays. Thanks
darcy1945
If you are sailing cat rigged you dont need tension. Sloop rig tension will depend on the conditions, more tension is required as wind and waves increase, A good start point would be about 30mm of deflection of any stay. cruiser
Hi Steve, Have you had the boat on the water yet? Chocko BTW, i never really had too much tension on it. Just enough to keep it clean.
StevoD
Thanks for the advice darcy and chocko. No I have'nt had it out yet. I am dying to go but my leg was the problem for the first few weeks and then Christmas and also no wind. Can't wait for a windy (well not too windy) weekend. I have set it up and taken it down a few times for practise though.
