berny
I'd like to take my downhaul out and attach it to the stay it at a reachable height. Any ideas on attaching it there so it will stay at a given height? bern

HooD
Ok berney I have given this some carefull thought, examined the photos and have some ideas. 1st i thought you could add a couple of swages to your side stays at the correct height, then using some shock cord attach a pulley to the side stay to route the downhaul through. 2nd Cut the side stay and re terminate the stay with a large thimble, make a small strop to go down to the chainplate, then pass the downhaull through the thimble. 3rd learn to trapeze at the correct height!!! what possible reason do you have to trapeze at that height on flat water???? I trapeze at deck level up until 4 foot + waves and have no issues!
macca
Yeah Berny, You need to trap a lot lower. It might feel strange to begin with but you will get used to it and it's way better. Then all you do is put a small block on a 6 inch piece of shock cord attached to your stay wire. Then feed your dh rope from the mast through the block and back into the main beam. berny
All good ideas, thanks for your help guys. Maybe I need a block and tackle on the trap to adjust the ring height for varying conditions.
