learning to sail

Gday one and all just wondering if any has or knows of any learning recourse ie. Books or DVDs, websites any help would be great.

G'day Dave if you go to catsailor.com you can get Rick Whites Catamaran training book which is brilliant and his learn to sail DVD which enables you to see what he is saying. If you are like me you will still be re reading his book in 5 years as your skills improve other sections suddenly make more sense.

This is a great DVD for beginers to advance, discusing everything from basic handling to tackticks. Very thorough, 2 x DVDs and a lot of hours of footage. In French and English, with some of the worlds best sailors on it including Booth, Bundy, Ashby and Scotty Anderson.

5 hours of film

The film was shot thanks to a system capable of simultaneously recording several cameras placed on the catamarans. Maneuvers can be viewed from several angles, making it possible to analyze precisely the sailing technique of each crew.

For the theory part, 3D images are used extensively as a complement to film of regattas and training.
