george
Hi, does anyone have any information on the Calypso 4.4. catamaran? How do they perform ? any weaknesses ? what are they worth ? etc etc. Thanks for any comments.
darcy1945
Price very much on condition, $300 to $1000 (v/good cond on good reg trlr), beach wheels add $200. No longer built, no fleets, no 2nd hand parts.
george
Cheers for that, there is one for sale here in WA in mint condition, sporting a near new big head Mylar sail, as a boat they look quite trick, but at $3000. inc. trailer, if they are a bit of an orphan might be best to steer clear... I'm wanting a boat that I can sail/race solo & have a passenger when my lady wants to tag along. Windrush 14 maybe, but bit of a slug two up.. Hobie 16 solo maybe ? Fremantle doctor is a bit of a beast though..
popey
Give goose from goosemarine.com.au a call. He can hook you up with info on a nacra16sq. There are 7 or 8of them sailing in wa at the moment. Great 1 person boat and can still have some power when cruising with two ppl.
Leon
Darcy sorry but your not quite right. You can still get parts. And Calpyso in at Sandgate is still operating doors open for a while. They are a good social boat that has quite good speed easy to rig by 1 person. There are little defects in the hulls strong.
george
Calypso 4.4 information Thanks for the comments guys, keep them coming. A Nacra 16 sounds great, sadly beyond my budget..
darcy1945
I stand corrected Leon, thank you, on the NSW Central Coast lakes, where I now sail, I have only seen 1 Calypso cat in the last 10/12 seasons, compared with hundreds of other production cats. Hobie, Mari, and Windy, are the common cats with numerous 2nd hand spares in my locality.
