darcy1945
You should also look at 4.9 Taipan, can be sailed solo (cat rig) or 2 up (sloop), competitive fleets locally.
jimr
thanks.. looking for a 2up boat... can you give me a bit of background about the Taipan as i dont know much about them (also the price differential)... I chose the Nacra 5 over the 5.8 as i thought it might be easier to handle with my son, who has little experience, and is centre board-less.. be interested if you thought this was an issue?... also looking for a boat which is versatile and good off the beach.. Is the taipan more of a racer?...
darcy1945
The Taipan is a racer, light, and fast, easy to rig, launch and retrieve, more care must be taken to avoid damage than boardless boats. Glass 4.9s start around $5k. Sloop rigged they are competitive with 5.8s
